Party and Special Event Planning

Our special events coordinator is the best in the business and can help you with any of these items. Please contact Greg Findura. Our equipment ranges from draft-capable trailers and small draft coil boxes, hassle-free ways to dispense your favorite beverages to a group of thirsty guests. You can rent our trailers for a nominal fee. The unit will be delivered to your location anywhere in our service area, set up, and you will be instructed on its operation. Our equipment is constantly in demand, so it’s never too early to reserve it for your upcoming function. We carry a large selection of domestic, imported and craft beers; as well as non-alcoholic beverages! Selling beer can be extremely profitable, and you can do it legally by obtaining a temporary permit from the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Liquor Control.

Temporary Permits

Qualified nonprofit organizations can get temporary liquor permits to sell or serve alcoholic beverages at limited events. The most common permits are the F and F-2 classes. For full legal details, see Ohio Revised Code sections 4303.20–4303.2012.

Important: This page is for general information and is not legal advice. Many factors can affect your situation. Consult a liquor attorney for legal guidance specific to your event.

When is a permit required?

You need a permit if your organization will sell beer or intoxicating liquor by the drink or charge admission, a cover, or similar fee to provide alcohol.

No permit is needed for private, invitation-only events (for example, a wedding reception) where no alcohol is sold and no admission fee is charged.

Who can apply?

Eligible applicants include charitable, fraternal, labor, educational, cultural, social, political, patriotic, or athletic nonprofit groups depending on the permit type.

Not eligible: private individuals or for-profit organizations. No temporary permit may be issued for the profit or gain of a private person.

F permit

  • Allows: sale of beer by the glass.
  • Duration: up to 5 days.
  • Fee and filing: $40 fee; application must be filed 30 days before the event. Only two F permits per organization in any 30-day period. (See ORC 4303.20.)

F-2 permit

  • Allows: sale of beer, wine, and spirituous liquor by the drink in areas locally voted “wet” for beer and wine.
  • Duration: up to 4 days.
  • Fee and filing: $150 fee ($160 if filed jointly with a D permit holder); application must be filed 30 days before the event. Only one F-2 permit per organization in any 30-day period. (See ORC 4303.202.)
  • Joint events: regular permit holders (bars, restaurants) may serve for an F-2 event but the application must be filed jointly and include both names. If the event is on the regular permit holder’s premises, that holder must submit an affidavit saying their permit privileges will not be used during the F-2 event.
  • Sunday rule: no Sunday local option restriction if the event includes other days of the week in addition to Sunday.
